“The only constant is change.” -Heraclitus
There’s something about fall. It is the season I look forward to the most. Especially when the temperature is a balmy 100 degrees.
It is the “idea” of a coat. The “thought” of layering. It is the “dream” of needing a sweater. The familiarity of the smells that are decidedly NOT summer.
We start working on the new season LAST fall. Literally. We start buying “pre fall” the November before. It’s honestly nuts.
That said, what is more nuts is trying to pretend things are “normal” when the world is changing at whiplash speed. When we were buying (fabulous) coats last March, the looming tariffs made the prices unknown. Fun. Our inconsistent weather isn’t helping. It certainly doesn’t feel like fall outside.
So I have decided that fall is an attitude.
I am wearing brown (my favorite color). I am planning more fun (yet intimate) events than ever with designers that I admire…starting with the talented Hable sisters, bringing art, sculpture and spectacular jewelry with their eye towards nature and evocative design that is admired worldwide. We are bringing in celebrated jewelry designer Annouska from London, known for her unique charms. And our Hudson Yards store will launch a new shop for Mansur Gavriel, the bags with a cult following that I have long admired. And our beautiful plant shop, Botanical, reopens on Lomo Alto drive with a new look and feel (hint: it’s brown!). And nothing feels more fall than a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato basil soup in Teak. I also can’t wait for the countless designer debuts coming this fashion week. It will be anything but boring.
I am calling it an attitude adjustment. Think cool thoughts and it just may manifest itself.
