New York’s eclectic energy is unmistakable. Where craft meets cool, from uptown posh to downtown streetwear, it’s indeed a hub for creativity and class. But who said it can’t be emulated? Not our founder Brian Bolke. “To me, New York is a state of mind. It’s where we find the best of what’s new, and bring it to Dallas, through our curatorial lens.”
In tandem with the Dallas Contemporary and their fall gala, we hosted four of New York’s finest that define the moment – and state of mind – of NYC at our Dallas gallery.
Reunited with an old friend, who helped open our flagship store in Hudson Yards back in 2019, Selima Salaun is renowned for her curated selection of rare, stylish and extraordinary vintage luxury eyewear. Selima has a quirk and sensibility all her own. Her vast vintage catalog, curated through her Paris-meets-New York aesthetic, delivers an unrivaled collection of frames where fashion meets function.
Womenswear designer and CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund runner-up Jonathan Cohen is known for his bold use of color, intricate prints, sustainable fabrics, and art-inspired designs… laid-back style meets city chic. Jonathan entered the market he felt was oversaturated at the time with black and white and brought vibrancy with his own interpretation of floral motifs, each personally designed by him.
From lens to gems, famed photographer Alexei Hay moves his creative eye to fine jewelry with the debut of his ethically-made collection of extraordinary lab-created diamonds in unique, sculptural settings that merge a bold aesthetic with a minimalist, artistic edge. Alexei demonstrates the same attention to detail, beautiful craftsmanship and humor in his jewelry making as he does in his images.
It wouldn’t be a New York meets Texas affair without some big headwear, and no one is cooler than milliner Gigi Burris for the job. She’s a “designer’s designer” known for her handcrafted, luxury hats and headpieces that blend traditional techniques with a modern flair. With a keen eye for details, and an intuitive sense of what’s just ahead of the curve, Gigi Burris’ hats are assured, effortless, and alluring.
“We brought four favorites, and they shared their wares, and their personalities,” noted Brian Bolke. “And boy, did they love Dallas! They all want to move here!”
The night was fun and fancy-free with quintessential New York treats like hot dogs, soft pretzels, and “I ♥️ NY” cookies, paired perfectly with drinks from our gracious partners Casa Dragones and Kastra Elion, as well as drinks from our new favorite “gadget” that serves frozen cosmopolitans.
The ever-talented DJ Lucy Wrubel, spun tunes that transported everyone to the golden age of the Big Apple, and like the city that never sleeps we carried the after-party to her fabulous abode. It was an evening of style, celebration, and plenty of New York charm—right here in Dallas.
