Get to know Co-founder of Mwani Zanzibar…

What was the inspiration behind starting your brand?
Our first inspiration behind the brand were the 23,000 women seaweed farmers of Zanzibar who faced a future without hope. This was a unique challenge which we wanted to resolve. As we embarked on this journey, a path gradually unfolded before us. The team’s continued dedication and years of constant resolve to become better, blossomed into what Mwani Zanzibar is today.

To us, this legacy serves as a testament to the potential within each of us, waiting to be recognized and nurtured. All it takes is someone who sees that potential and believes in us enough to empower us to thrive.

Quality you want to be remembered by?
That I was playful and an adventurer

Best thing about where you are from?
I am not from one place, whereby perhaps the best thing about it is that I feel connected to all cultures, races and religion and can relate to them all.

It’s hard not to be reminiscent of the past, and be distracted by the future. How do you strive to live in the moment?
I have never been a person who reminisces over the past that much. I am, however, a person that can over-think the future ahead. I learned to celebrate and digest today’s wins and losses as this keeps me in the moment.

What does Considered Luxury mean to you?
I believe that in Considered Luxury, each product is crafted with utmost care and intention to achieve the highest quality. This entails using processes that uphold the integrity of the materials. Considered Luxury transcends the physical product; it encompasses a profound respect for the artistry involved and acknowledges its interconnectedness with nature and the community. Truly considered luxury recognizes the impact of its actions on the environment and society, assuming the role of a custodian committed to preserving the delicate balance of our planet. This responsibility is upheld with the same dedication as the creation of the product itself. It’s about appreciating the journey of creation as much as the final product itself.
